Polypropylene Casework

High-performing laboratory casework and storage solutions

LabAire Systems provides durable and dependable casework and workstations that perform under harsh environments. Robust and cost-effective, laboratory  casework is constructed entirely from stress-relieved polypropylene ideal for corrosive settings.  LAS now offers polypropylene lab furniture previously manufactured by lab casework manufacturer, NuAire®, Inc.

Created for labs with strict hygiene standards

Casework manufactured with polypropylene is an industry standard in laboratories that use harsh chemical and corrosive substances because it’s rust and metal-free. For a safe and functional workspace, polypropylene cabinets and casework is engineered to resist chemical exposure, corrosion, and impact. Polypropylene outperforms metal or wood equivalents that are prone to rust and deterioration.

Have questions about Polypropylene Casework?

Do you offer a polypropylene flammable base cabinet?

We don’t. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 30 code requires constructing flammable liquid storage cabinets so that, during a 10-minute fire test, the internal temperature at the center and one inch from the top does not exceed 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Is all polypropylene flame-retardant?

Not all polypropylene is flame-retardant, but we offer several polypropylene options that meet non-metallic flammability requirements.

Our standard polypropylene carries a UL 94 HB rating from Underwriters Laboratories. A horizontal burn (HB) flame rating indicates that the material was tested in a horizontal position and found to burn at a rate less than a specified maximum.

We also offer polypropylene with a UL-94 V-O rating, meaning it was tested in a vertical position and self-extinguished within a specified time after the ignition source was removed. The rating also indicates whether the test specimen dripped flaming particles that ignited a cotton indicator located below the sample.

The highest-rated material we offer carries an FM4910 certification, which is designed for cleanroom occupancies. FM4910 evaluates the materials on their fire propagation behavior and potential for smoke contamination using two key indices: Fire Propagation Indes (FPI) and Smoke Damage Index (SDI).

Can locks be added to cabinets?

Yes. We offer several lock options, including epoxy-coated, non-ferrous and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-rated material.

Do you offer Revit files?

No, but we can provide DWG 2-D files compatible with most CAD files.

Do you provide installation?

No, but we work with several laboratory equipment providers who may offer installation. More information is available on our Architects & Lab Planning page or contact us.

Can you accommodate ADA requirements?

Yes. We can modify most units to comply with ADA requirements or custom requirements.
